How we came To Be.
The Akwa Ibom State Health Insurance Scheme (ARISECare) was formally launched on 20 September 2024 by His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, Ph.D., Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
The Scheme was established pursuant to Akwa Ibom State Laws, Cap 61, enacted by the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and duly assented to by the Governor. The Law provides for a mandatory health insurance scheme for all residents of Akwa Ibom State.
The creation of the States Social Health Insurance Agency came as a result of decentralization policy of the National Health Insurance Authority of which the State keyed into it. The Agency is mandated to coordinate and implement the Scheme in line with national policy direction, with the goal of advancing the attainment of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Akwa Ibom State.
